Singapore Private Banking for Non-Residents
Singapore private banking for non-residents is available here to true overseas clients with no Singapore permit, no local address and no relocation route. Our advisory service starts at about USD 3 million in investable assets. We assess bank fit, prepare the KYC case and coordinate banker-led onboarding; the bank always makes the final decision.
USD 3m+ boutique route
Our starting route for selected boutique banks and Singapore offices of Swiss or international private-banking groups. Local flagship routes generally start higher.
Non-resident profiles
For clients whose residence, wealth and account purpose make a cross-border relationship commercially credible.
Evidence before forms
We organize source of wealth, source of funds, tax residence and expected activity before approaching a bank.
Banker-led onboarding
Remote steps may be available. However, a bank can still require video verification, certified documents or a meeting.
Singapore Private Banking for Non-Residents Starts with Route Fit
Singapore private banking for non-residents is not the overseas version of a retail current account. A local salary account, an international wealth account and a private-bank relationship are different products with different economics. Sending the same application to all three usually wastes time and can make a credible client look poorly prepared.
Therefore, this Singapore private banking for non-residents service is built for the private-banking end of that spectrum. The starting question is not simply whether you have a passport and proof of address. It is whether a Singapore booking centre can understand your wealth, accept the countries connected to it, support the assets you intend to hold and see a durable reason for the relationship.
That distinction matters for clients and for search intent. Our Singapore bank account for non-residents guide explains eligibility, evidence and the general process. This page is different: it explains the paid preparation and onboarding service for clients ready to move from research to a bank application.
The practical test: can the bank explain, in one clean internal memo, who owns the wealth, how it was created, why it is moving and why Singapore is the logical place to manage it?
Which Singapore Banking Route Are You Actually Applying For?
Published thresholds are useful orientation, not approval promises. DBS, for example, currently publishes entry points of SGD 350,000 for new-to-bank Treasures clients, SGD 1.5 million for Treasures Private Client and at least USD 5 million for DBS Private Bank. Those figures show how sharply the proposition changes as assets rise. Other banks use their own thresholds, eligible markets and internal risk rules.
| Route | Typical applicant | Onboarding reality | Our role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resident retail | Employee, student or dependant with an accepted Singapore residence status | Usually self-directed through a retail bank; eligibility depends on the bank and immigration status | Not covered by this service |
| International wealth or priority | Affluent international client with a relatively simple profile | Can begin remotely at selected banks, but nationality, residence and certified-document rules apply | Reviewed selectively |
| Private banking | Non-resident with substantial investable wealth and a clear investment or custody purpose | Relationship-manager and compliance-led; source of wealth is central | Core service |
| Family office or holding structure | Family, founder or beneficial owner using companies, trusts or several asset-holding entities | Enhanced ownership, governance, tax-residence and economic-purpose review | Core service, subject to complexity review |
If you want a full document-by-document explanation rather than service support, use our separate Singapore bank account requirements guide. Keeping that research content separate lets this page stay focused on execution.
How Singapore Private Banking Routes USD 3m, USD 10m and USD 20m Mandates
In Singapore private banking for non-residents, a published minimum answers one narrow question: the lowest asset level at which a bank may describe a client as eligible. It does not tell a non-resident whether a particular desk wants the countries, structure, assets and workload attached to the case. Our service therefore uses a second number: the practical placement threshold.
For selected boutique private banks and Singapore-regulated branches or subsidiaries of Swiss and international private-banking groups, our working route starts at approximately USD 3 million. Examples of the institutional category include Bordier & Cie (Singapore) and Banque Pictet & Cie’s Singapore operation, although neither name is a promise of eligibility and their regulatory form is not identical. For these named houses we plan on about USD 5 million. Nationality, residence, asset type and account purpose can move the effective threshold above USD 3 million.
For the large Singapore flagships, our placement logic is more selective. We generally start a non-resident review around USD 10 million. We regard USD 20 million or more as the stronger route for complex family wealth, holding structures, lending requirements or family-office services. DBS Private Bank, Bank of Singapore and UOB Private Bank publish or reference lower entry figures for some relationships. However, our higher service bands reflect the economics and compliance burden of a cross-border introduction; they do not claim that banks reject every client below USD 10 million.
| Investable assets | Practical service route | Best-fit profile | What can raise the threshold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Below USD 3m | Not the core mandate for this service | Priority or international wealth banking researched directly with the provider | Non-residence, restricted markets and complex ownership |
| USD 3m-5m | Boutique private bank or Singapore office of a Swiss/international group | Documented individual wealth, straightforward holding company or focused custody mandate | PEP exposure, operating-company flows, concentrated private assets or higher-risk residence |
| USD 5m-10m | Broader boutique and international private-bank review | Diversified liquid portfolio with a clear investment, custody or credit requirement | Multiple entities, unusual transfer chains, digital-asset wealth or unclear tax residence |
| USD 10m-20m | Selective local flagship review | Established entrepreneur or family seeking meaningful Asian investment and banking capability | A passive deposit-only request, no Singapore logic or a high-friction country combination |
| USD 20m+ | Strongest local flagship, UHNW and family-office route | Complex family wealth, financing, discretionary mandates, governance or multi-entity custody | Asset level never overrides sanctions, AML, tax-residence or source-of-wealth concerns |
The difference is visible in banks’ own material. DBS Private Bank publicly welcomes clients with more than USD 5 million. Likewise, Bank of Singapore states that it caters to clients with USD 5 million or more. Separately, Bank of Singapore’s Family Office Catalyst uses at least USD 20 million in its investment vehicle. Public eligibility and realistic non-resident placement are related. Still, they are not the same decision.

Singapore private banking readiness
Starting point: choose an asset band and complete the four evidence checks.
How We Prepare Singapore Private Banking for Non-Residents Before Submission
The form is rarely the difficult part. The difficult part is deciding what the application should say and whether the supporting records prove it. We make four decisions early.
1. The correct banking tier
We compare the intended balance, assets, services and geography with the relationship a bank can support. Therefore, we do not present an execution-only custody client like a lending-led family office.
2. The booking and ownership route
An individual account, investment company, trust-owned entity and operating business raise different questions. We identify controllers, beneficial owners and the reason each entity exists.
3. The source-of-wealth narrative
A credible narrative connects dates, companies, transactions and documents. It does not hide complexity. Instead, it removes avoidable ambiguity and maps every important fact to evidence.
4. The expected account activity
Opening balance, sending bank, currencies, investment mix and future transfers must tell the same story. In practice, a mismatch between declared purpose and expected activity often does more damage than complexity itself.
What Singapore Private Banking for Non-Residents Delivers
| Deliverable | What it resolves | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility and risk review | Whether the profile, asset level, countries and purpose justify a Singapore approach | A candid proceed, prepare-first or unsuitable-route conclusion |
| Banking-route shortlist | Which type of institution and relationship desk fits the case | A reasoned route based on current appetite, not a generic bank ranking |
| KYC evidence map | Gaps between the wealth story and the records available to prove it | A document index covering identity, residence, wealth, funds and ownership |
| Application narrative | How the bank should understand the client and proposed relationship | A structured profile and source-of-wealth presentation using verifiable facts |
| Banker coordination | Submission sequence, meetings, follow-up questions and document updates | Preparation for banker discussions and support through the review |
We do not hold client money, select investments, provide tax or legal advice, conceal beneficial ownership or guarantee that a bank will accept a case. Fees and engagement terms are shown on our services and fees page.
The Four-Stage Onboarding Path
Singapore private banking for non-residents works sequentially. Moving faster at the beginning often slows the bank review later, so we do not submit a half-built file simply to claim that an application is underway.
- Stage 1Confidential fact reviewResidence, nationality, wealth, entities, proposed assets and account purpose.
- Stage 2Route and gap analysisSuitable tier, material risks, missing records and realistic next action.
- Stage 3Dossier and banker preparationEvidence index, narrative, forms, certified documents and meeting preparation.
- Stage 4Bank-controlled reviewCompliance questions, verification, possible meeting and the bank’s final decision.
The first three stages are preparation and coordination. Timing for the final stage is controlled by the bank and varies with complexity.
Why Strong Applications Still Fail
In Singapore private banking for non-residents, money alone does not make a case bankable. In practice, the most avoidable problems come from contradictions.
- The wrong route: a non-resident applies through a resident retail workflow because it looks faster.
- An unexplained wealth jump: the current balance is clear, but the transaction or business event that created it is not.
- A broken transfer trail: assets are expected from a company or third party that does not match the named account holder.
- An entity without a purpose: a holding company adds ownership layers but no defensible commercial, governance or succession rationale.
- Conflicting tax-residence statements: forms, utility bills, company records and prior accounts point to different jurisdictions.
- Accredited Investor status treated as approval: the client meets a wealth definition but still fails the bank’s country, conduct or source-of-wealth review.
Singapore’s Accredited Investor framework can matter when a client accesses investment products, but it is not a substitute for KYC. Publicly stated individual criteria include income of at least SGD 300,000 in the preceding 12 months, net personal assets above SGD 2 million subject to the primary-residence limit, or net financial assets above SGD 1 million. A bank can still apply stricter commercial and risk standards.
Can the Account Be Opened Remotely?
Sometimes. For Singapore private banking for non-residents, remote onboarding is a method, not a product entitlement. DBS currently states that foreign or non-resident clients may open Singapore or Hong Kong wealth accounts remotely. It also notes that new clients may need third-party notarisation. Therefore, the example shows that a remote route can exist. However, it does not prove that every nationality, entity or private-banking case can avoid a meeting.
A bank may use a video call, electronic identity checks, certified copies, apostilles or an in-person meeting. The method can change after the first compliance review. We therefore describe onboarding as banker-led and profile-dependent rather than advertising a guaranteed online account.
Lower-balance consumer and local pass-holder accounts solve a different problem and sit outside this service. Therefore, do not confuse them with a cross-border private-banking mandate.
What Singapore Deposit Protection Does and Does Not Cover
The Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation insures eligible Singapore-dollar deposits up to SGD 100,000 in aggregate per depositor per scheme member. However, deposit insurance does not cover foreign-currency deposits, structured deposits, unit trusts, shares or other investment products. Private banking clients therefore need to separate deposit protection from the custody, market and issuer risks of an investment portfolio.
This is one reason a serious bank review goes beyond the name on the building. Clients should understand the booking entity, product issuer, custody chain and legal character of the assets they intend to hold.
Who Reviews Your Case
Easy Global Banking provides Singapore private banking for non-residents as an advisory and coordination service. BMA Business Solutions GmbH, a Swiss company registered under UID CHE-422.832.034, operates the service. Managing Partner Asel Mamytova leads client reviews; her background spans cross-border wealth management, AML compliance and work with internationally mobile private clients. Also, we have prepared and onboarded complex client files at banks in Switzerland, Singapore and other jurisdictions. These include multi-entity structures, PEP connections, crypto-derived wealth and business-sale proceeds. Before sharing documents, you can review the firm’s identity, leadership and operating scope on The Firm page.
That experience does not replace the bank’s compliance function. Its value is more practical: identifying inconsistencies before submission, presenting complex facts in an orderly way and being willing to say when Singapore is not the right route.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is USD 3 million an official Singapore bank minimum?
No. It is the working threshold for our core Singapore private banking service, not a national rule or a promise of acceptance. Banks publish and apply different thresholds, and a more complex profile can require substantially more.
Can Easy Global Banking guarantee that my account will open?
No. We can assess fit, organize evidence, prepare the case and coordinate the application. The bank controls due diligence, product eligibility, timing and the final decision.
Can a U.S. person use this service?
Potentially, but only with a bank and booking route able to serve U.S.-connected clients under FATCA and applicable securities rules. Applicants must disclose U.S. status at the beginning; consequently, the available institutions may narrow.
Do I need to travel to Singapore?
Not in every case. Selected banks support remote stages, while others may require certified records, video verification or an in-person meeting. We confirm the likely process after reviewing the profile.
Can I apply through a company or holding structure?
Yes, if the structure has a clear purpose and the applicant can document its beneficial ownership, controllers, activities and tax position. However, an operating-company account is a different mandate from a private investment holding account.
How long does Singapore private bank onboarding take?
There is no honest universal timeline. Preparation depends on how quickly records are available; the bank’s review depends on nationality, residence, wealth history, entities, products and additional questions. We do not promise an approval date.
What should I prepare for the first assessment?
Be ready to state your citizenships and residences, tax residence, occupation or business interests, approximate investable assets, source of wealth, source of the first transfer, ownership structure and the specific reason you need Singapore.
